This partnership brings together 36 academics and 36 partner organizations to co-develop and share evidence-based knowledge on accommodating vulnerable and precarious migrants and refugees in major urban centres across Africa, Europe, North America, and Latin America. The project examines diverse approaches to migrant and refugee settlement and supports urban decision-makers in developing innovative and inclusive policies while advancing scholarly understanding.

The Migration for Inclusive African Growth (MIAG) network brings together researchers from multiple disciplines and non-academic stakeholders across Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, and Nigeria. The project seeks to understand how different migrant groups contribute to inclusive growth and to enhance this contribution by identifying policy and practice lessons and co-designing knowledge-exchange tools for migrants and the local actors they engage with.

CUSP focuses on strengthening artistic and cultural institutions in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) so they can serve as reference points for identifying and transforming social conflict. Through a conflict-transformation approach and the full participation of women and girls, the project addresses issues such as gender-based violence, coercion, and injustice. All CUSP activities are grounded in environmental justice and respect for local and indigenous knowledge systems.

This project examines the contextual factors underlying human smuggling and trafficking into, within, and from Ghana. It aims to strengthen the capacity of relevant institutions to detect, prevent, arrest, and prosecute perpetrators while safeguarding the rights and rehabilitation of victims. The project contributes to Ghana’s efforts to comply with the minimum standards of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) and to achieve SDG Target 8.7, which seeks to eradicate forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking, and the worst forms of child labour.

The OPPORTUNITIES project brings together migrants, citizens, and stakeholders at national, local, and regional levels across several African and European countries. Through cross-talks—a collaborative storytelling method—the project encourages mutual listening and the creation of shared migration narratives. Its central objective is to establish common ground for fair and inclusive dialogue that integrates African and European perspectives on migration and integration. The project engages civil society and policymakers to adopt and implement this fair-dialogue approach.

MIGNEX – Aligning Migration Management and the Migration–Development Nexus – was a five-year research project (2018–2023) aimed at generating new knowledge on migration, development, and policy. The project brought together researchers from nine institutions across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Its overarching objective was to contribute to more effective and coherent migration management by advancing evidence-based understanding of the complex linkages between development and migration.
