SCHOOL FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAINING (SIT) STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMME
The School for International Training (SIT) Study Abroad programme, which is based at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon is one of the packages of the World Learning Inc. in Brattleboro, Vermont, USA.

It is a global effort to enhance the capacity and commitment of individuals, institutions, and communities to create a more peaceful and just world.

A pioneer in experiential, field-based study abroad, SIT provides academically rich programs in more than 40 countries for over 2,000 undergraduates from 200-plus colleges and universities each year. Each semester program model focuses on an examination of critical global issues in a specific cultural and geographical context. A course in field study methods prepares students to conduct original research on a related academic topic.

Studying with host country faculty and living with home stay families, students gain a deep appreciation for local cultures, develop language skills, and become immersed in diverse topics ranging from the politics of identity to post-conflict transformation, from global health to environmental policy. As they explore global and local issues firsthand, students acquire new theoretical frameworks and a broadened worldview.

The SIT programme is a two semester programme running from August to December, which is coordinated by an Associate Academic Dean and a Programs Director. The programme also co-opts Fellows of the Institute as guest lecturers.

The World Learning Inc runs education, training, and exchange programs in over 75 countries. Each programme helps bridge cultures and transform lives. The programmes also help people gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their society, and the world. The organization operates the Experiment in International Living, SIT Study Abroad, International Honors Program, SIT Graduate Institute, and World Learning International Development Programs.
