The University of Ghana Governing Council has promoted the Director of the Centre for Migration Studies (CMS), Prof. Mary B. Setrana to the rank of Full Professor.

The appointments were announced by the Council Secretary and Registrar of the University, Mrs. Emelia Agye-Mensah, following a Governing Council meeting held on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Prof. Setrana, a faculty member and IDRC Research Chair on Forced Displacement (Anglophone West Africa), was promoted to Full Professor in Migration and Social Change. Her promotion recognises her outstanding scholarship, dedication to teaching and mentorship, and significant contributions to migration research and policy engagement in Ghana and beyond.

Under her leadership, the Centre for Migration Studies has strengthened its research profile and expanded interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Governing Council also confirmed the promotion of two Inter-Faculty Members of the Centre, Prof. Enoch Teye-Kwadjo of Health Psychology and Prof. Austin Dziwornu Ablo of Human Geography, to the rank of Full Professor.

Their promotions reflect sustained scholarly contributions, impactful research, academic leadership, and commitment to teaching and mentorship within the University of Ghana and beyond.

The Centre for Migration Studies has extended its congratulations to the three professors, noting that their achievements mark an important academic milestone and contribute to advancing research and academic excellence at the University.
